Name
Embodying Empathy
Date & Time
Friday, June 25, 2021, 3:30 PM - 4:20 PM
Kim Jessor Rebecca Tuffey
Description

We are interested in and curious about how aspects of identity, such as race, gender, class and disability status among others, live in our use of ourselves. By amplifying and embodying these identities through direction and movement, we gain greater understanding of and empathy for ourselves and others.

We will have a lively conversation to share our developing work and then demonstrate one of our embodied activities, which we will offer up as something you could take away and explore on your own. We will use the Alexander process as a means to investigate, transform, articulate and integrate discoveries. Embodying Empathy blends Alexander, our work in universities in actor training programs, and our ongoing learning in the realm of diversity, equity and belonging.

Please note that attendees will experience this workshop as a webinar presentation; listening to us talk and watching us demonstrate. There is no active participation on your end, nor will attendees be seen. We hope to inspire you to try out our work later!
