Speaker Bio
Geordie MacMinn is a Professor of Voice & Alexander Technique at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, School of Drama, where he has taught actors, singers, musicians and dancers since 2003. Originally from Los Angeles, CA, his professional pursuit of an acting career made him fascinated with how to unlock the mind and body to find more spontaneity on and off the stage. With the Alexander Technique (ATI-LA certification 2001) as his platform, his somatic work has expanded into Linklater Voice work (Designated Teacher 2007), Jessica Wolf’s The Art of Breathing (certified 2003), Psychodrama, Psychodramatic Bodywork, The Actor’s Secret with Betsy Polatin, Somatic Experiencing and the acting technique of Michael Checkov, among others. He loves to empower performers in the agency of their own voice and body, and was the 2013 recipient of the UNC Board of Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.
