Description

Calling all explorers! Are you a teacher trainee interested in growing an AT practice? Or a practitioner of another somatic discipline curious about how the Alexander technique relates to your own area of expertise? Maybe you are a seasoned teacher of the AT who needs to reboot, revisit your roots and re-envision your 21st century teaching identity? Whatever your starting point, this workshop will offer an opportunity to explore avenues of connection and identify pathways for deepening the impact of our work.

For many years, I found value in defining what the Alexander Technique is. More recently, I've shifted my thinking in favor of the question: Why the Alexander Technique? The benefit of engaging with this question has been twofold: not only has it helped me connect and communicate with audiences of all kinds, it has also enabled me to clarify my purpose as a teacher and align my teaching accordingly.

Positive strides continue to be made toward increasing the visibility of the Alexander Technique. Still, the fact remains that the AT remains largely undiscovered by the general public and underutilized as a tool for discovering and sustaining a pathway to change. This workshop will serve as a meeting place for individuals from various backgrounds, interests and experience-levels. Whether seeking renewal, understanding, community, professional direction or inspiration for broadening the scope of your influence, together we'll delineate a framework of common ground and gain perspective on the "why" driving our individual and collective Alexander Technique-related initiatives. Consider your purpose. Share your why. Join the conversation. Let's forge ahead on this journey, together.
