Daria T. Okugawa is a native of Los Angeles. She stumbled into the world of theatre as a young 14 year old. After obtaining and Associate Arts degree from Los Angeles City College Theatre Arts Academy, Daria went on to obtain a BFA in Acting from Carnegie Melon University, later adding an MFA In Acting from the University of Virginia. Along the path of her studies she was introduced to the Alexander Technique and moved to London ,qualifying in1982 from ATA, London (Alexander Teaching Associates) under the Direction of Don Burton. She moved back to LA to continue acting and develop a private teaching practice. In 1987, she moved to Charlottesville Virginia and co-founded "The Virginia School for the Alexander Technique" with Frank Sheldon . In 1991 the school changed its name to The ATTIC and Daria continued on as sole director until 2011. Daria moved to Chicago and in 2012 opened The ATTIC (Alexander Technique Training in Chicago) where she currently continues training teachers, providing workshops, refresher courses and private lessons, alongside continuing her work as an actor. She is an ensemble member of Shattered Globe Theatre and continues to enjoy the exploration of acting and teaching.
